clean up activity tracking

There are a lot of weird rough edges when working with the activity log, especially when trying to retroactively modify activities: Can’t “switch to meeting” after the end of the scheduled time of a meeting Can’t modify start time of a meeting while it is ongoing Can’t drag the end of an activity to make it <4 minutes If you forget to end a session at the end of the day, when you open locu the next day you can’t easily set the end time of the session You can delete the session completely but then you lose real data from the session start time and possible task sessions within the session You can drag the beginning of the task session before midnight, then go to the previous day, and drag it to the actual end time, then do that again but for the session Both this and previous would be most easily fix with a dialog where you can just type the activity duration or the start/end time Modifying the start/end of the session moves the task sessions inside the session. This almost never makes sense. The task sessions don’t really ever mean “this task was worked on for 15 minutes, 12 minutes after the session was started”. It means “this task was worked on from 10:30 to 10:45”. The only time I want changes in the session to affect the task sessions, is when the task session no longer fits inside the session. Then, the task session should be truncated to fit inside the session. If I move the start or end time of a task session, if it overlaps with another task session, I want it to push that task session out of the way (not by moving the task session, see above, but by truncating whichever end is overlapped) Right now, I have to update the start of one task, then the end of the other task to match. Time that is both in a session and in a meeting is double-counted in the day total work time Really like being able to retroactively see my task log, but I do a lot of context switching and the UX of the activities pane is the main pain point for me in Locu. Thanks!

Local-first architecture

I’m considering switching to Locu as my primary productivity platform, and I have a few questions regarding what you mean by “lifetime“ support. On the pricing page, you state: “Pay once, use forever.” Could you clarify what this means in practice? My main concern isn’t lifetime updates - I’d be happy to pay for continued development if needed. Rather, I’m thinking about long-term access and usability. For example, will I still be able to use the app one, five, or even ten years from now? More specifically: Would the app continue to function if Locu as a company no longer existed? Is Locu designed with a local-first architecture? In line with local-first principles, would the app remain usable indefinitely without official hosting or an internet connection (excluding data synchronization, of course)? Understanding this would help me assess whether Locu is a viable long-term platform for my workflow.

Broader Jira app permissions than needed

From Jira, I see the app has these permissions: Locu can perform the following actions: View user information in Jira that the user has access to, including usernames, email addresses, and avatars. Fetch, register, refresh, and delete dynamically declared Jira webhooks. Read Jira project and issue data, search for issues, and objects associated with issues like attachments and worklogs. Create and edit issues in Jira, post comments as the user, create worklogs, and delete issues. I suppose Jira webhooks are needed for real-time sync from Jira to Locu, that’s okay. But I don’t get why can it: create issues - i don’t see this option inside Locu edit issues - i cannot edit the Jira task from Locu post comments - i cannot post comments create worklogs - i don’t see the option delete issues - i cannot delete Every one of these options I want to be able to disable them IF they are implemented. And if they’re not implemented, the app shouldn’t have those permissions at all. I was really hesitant allowing this app to be connected to Jira. Please this is really important for me and possibly for your other users.

Hijri Calendar With Maghrib-Based Day Change

Hi Locu team, Thank you for building Locu. I really value the focus and intentional design of the app. I wanted to request a feature that would be extremely meaningful for Muslim users. An optional Hijri (Islamic) calendar, with a setting where the day changes at Maghrib time, not at midnight. In Islam, the new day begins at sunset. Having a Hijri calendar that reflects this correctly would make Locu unique and genuinely useful for planning daily routines, spiritual practices, and long-term goals. Personally, if this feature existed, I would seriously consider moving away from all Gregorian calendar apps, including Google Calendar, and using Locu as my primary planning tool. To my knowledge, no mainstream productivity app handles the Hijri calendar correctly with a Maghrib-based day change, and this would truly set Locu apart. Even offering this as an optional toggle would already be incredibly valuable. Thank you for considering this request, and for the work you are doing on the app.

Project filter for tasks and tasks Estimated time

Hello, thank you very much for your app. Recently I've been trying several focus and to-do productivity tools. I saw your product on Reddit and I'm also trying hard to learn how to use it. I have two feature questions: are these something you would consider developing? 1. Does Tasks have a filter for Projects? I understand that you can see tasks within each Project, but on the Tasks page I think users could more intuitively see whether each task is one of today's tasks. And maybe some tasks are my side projects, and I don't want tasks from those side projects to interfere with my work. 2. Estimated time for each task I can understand treating each session as a focused time block to complete a task, but sometimes I also want to know whether the time I spent on a particular task matched my expectations. Sometimes only in retrospect can I determine which tasks in that session took more time than necessary. Above are some of my questions. Thank you for developing this app — I wish you all the best with your work. 💯💯💯

Locu Public API

Locu's focus on professional users and developers is a major asset. To make the platform essential for complex workflows, it would be important to introduce a Public API. An API would allow users to connect Locu with various tools, including AI assistants and custom scripts. This deep integration is key—once developers build their own connections, it makes the platform much stickier and harder to leave. Here are the two essential functions needed for the first version of the API: 1. Add Task Endpoint This endpoint should allow users to programmatically create new tasks and place them directly into a specific project's backlog. Goal: Enables integration with AI assistants and external automation tools, instantly turning external data or ideas into actionable tasks within Locu. 2. Get Time Entries Endpoint This endpoint should allow users to retrieve recorded time entries from Locu. Goal: Makes it easy to sync time data with invoicing software or custom reports. The endpoint must support filtering by project and date range. This simple API would open up Locu to a lot more power users and significantly boost its demand within the developer community.

Feature Request: Urge & Failure Tracking Counter

Hi Locu team, Thanks for building Locu. I have found it helpful for focus sessions and staying productive. I would like to suggest a new feature that could benefit users who are tracking personal behavioral patterns. Feature idea: • A simple dual counter that lets users track both urges (for example, moments of temptation or distraction) and failures or slips throughout the day. • The counter could be accessible from the main UI or via a keyboard shortcut. • An always-on-top or unobtrusive overlay mode would make it easy to use alongside other work without switching screens. This would let users measure internal progress patterns and see trends over time. This complements Locu’s focus and execution tracking features. Thanks for considering this request. I think it would be a valuable addition for users looking to track personal progress beyond work metrics.

TickTick integration

Currently on the free trial and there are a lot of things with Locu I really like! It has made me have several deep focus sessions where I got a ton of shit done. Thank you! However I am missing two things to be absolutely sold on this app: Light mode, and Ticktick-integration. I use Ticktick for everything and it is quite cumbersome to have to copy-paste things over every day. I know you market this app to developers specifically, but I really do think that if you add integrations for TickTick (and maybe a few others of the most popular to-do-apps, such as Things and Todoist) you would expand your customer base exponentially. Sunsama users for example are really frustrated by their lack of Ticktick integration. I am not a developer but I still find Locu very very useful, and I think that if you expand your target market a little bit you could potentially grow very quickly. Personally I would buy the lifetime deal in a heartbeat if you had light mode and ticktick integration. Please? 🤗

Floating/Always-on-Top Timer for Windows

Hi Locu team, First off, I want to say the app is really great! I’ve been enjoying my free trial and love the focus session and task management features. It is exactly the kind of productivity tool I have been looking for. I wanted to suggest a feature that would make the Windows version even more powerful: a floating/always-on-top timer overlay. On macOS, some floating UI elements already work really well, and having the timer persist above other windows on Windows would be amazing for focus sessions. If this feature could be added or fixed, I would definitely consider subscribing once my trial ends. I think it would greatly improve the workflow for users who like to keep their tasks and timer visible while working in other apps. Thanks so much for all the work you have done so far. I am really excited about what is coming next.
